ERI offers a complete range of pavement evaluation, rehabilitation and design services for highways, airports and parking lot pavements. Our staff is experienced with the existing design standards including AASHTO, FAA, Asphalt Institute, PCA, IDOT and mechanistic design procedures. We use state-of-the-art evaluation, analysis and design techniques to study the behavior of airfield and highway pavements. Working with airport, highway and local road agencies, ERI has successfully developed rehabilitation design strategies throughout the world.
Field Data Collection
A detailed project level requires a significant amount of field data to be collected to assess the current condition of the pavement, to identify the key types of pavement deterioration present, and to identify the defects that must be addressed for effective pavement rehabilitation design. The filed data collection may include:
• Pavement distress survey
• Non-destructive deflection testing
• Destructive testing
• Roughness testing
• Skid testing
Equipment
Our state-of-the-art fleet of data collection equipment includes:
• Automated distress survey equipment for right-of-way and downward pavement image-logging for pavement condition survey and asset data extraction
• GPS for geo-referencing
• Precision high speed laser profilers for pavement roughness (IRI), rutting, and faulting measurement
• Falling Weight Deflectometers (FWD/HWD) for non-destructive deflection testing
• Core/bore drilling machines for subsurface investigations
• Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) units used for determining pavement layer thicknesses and underground utility detection
• Skid Testing unit to measure pavement skid resistance
ERI has experienced engineers and technicians to collect and analyze accurate and reliable field data for pavement evaluation, rehabilitation and design services for highways, airports and parking lots pavements. Our capability to perform field data collection and materials testing services in-house provides an advantage over other companies, who must use third parties to collect the necessary data for an effective pavement evaluation, rehabilitation and design. All of the data is gathered and managed by ERI, thus ensuring that the same level of quality is maintained throughout the project.
